Hello Karl Childers with another episode of Big Match Breakdown looking ahead of the matches coming up at Gringos Gone Wild.
Show Opener
Ace Sky vs Chris Page
We haven’t seen Chris Page in action since his loss to Lissie Hope at Trash Wrestling – but we did hear from him at Summer of Slam. We might very well see a more focused, more brutal Chris Page when he returns to action on September 30th. To me though, this is a huge opportunity for Ace Sky. He almost picked up his second win in a row at Summer of Slam – he was just a little too late on the pinfall. If Ace can beat Chris Page it takes him to a whole nother level. A lot at risk for Page if he loses her it might mean he’s just not cut out for CU:LT. That said, I think it would be silly to bet against Page in this one.
Steel Cage Match
Holden Ross vs El Diablo Blanco
The world renowned backyard legeg El Diablo Blanco makes a guest appearance here as he takes on Holden Ross inside a steel cage. Blanco is getting a chance to show his skills on a world stage, but is up against one of the most brutal men in all of wrestling. While Ross hasn't been in the win column all that often. He has proved he knows how to leave a mark on his opponent. It’s hard to say who will walk away with this one but I have to give the edge to Holden Ross here. I have seen his work just a bit more, but I wouldn’t be surprised if Blanco pulls one out.
CULT VS LUCHA
Azurine Vebbins vs Epico Failo
Vebbins wasn’t able to walk away with a win in a fatal four way at Summer of Slam – but she is adamant to come back to the CU”LT ring for more punishment and she represents the whole company in this match as she takes on a well known lucha expert in Mexico – Epico Failo! While I do love trying to decode exactly what the fuck Vebbins is going on about I do think she is entertaining anf skilled between the ropes. With the energy from what will no doubt a hot crowd I think it will be all too much for Azurine to overcome and Falio is going to walk away with a win.
SNUFF Championship Number One Contender
Exploding Barbedwire Bat Match
Max Daemon vs Addy A
There is a lot on the line in this one. Wif Jd Driftwood challenging for the top championship if he wins the SNUFF Championship will be vacated and awarded to the winner of this match. If not they will face him at Deathmatch Does Dallas. Regardless we know this is a place Max wants to be, he was the first SNUFF Champion after filling a pint with the blood of his opponents way back at Manson Family Values. Daemon has on been on a bit of a slide since – he lost the title to JD Driftwood ina TiaPei death match at Jonestown Reunion. He did go ont o get ot he finals of the Ouija Board tournament – even getting the company logo branded into his skin. He has an amazon return at Summer of Slam when he beat Vincent Black who has been on an absolutely great run. Now it seems Max could go on a tear of his own. It won’t be easy though Addy A had an impressive debut making her opponent frustrated enough to be DQed. Addy has been a great addition to the roster. She is no doubt tough and I know after this she is going to want to get her hands on Keeton once again. I think Max may take this one though – he knows his way around these CU:LT match types and he is just as hungry as Addy when it comes to wanting to climb the ladder.
Señor Mascara vs Justin York vs Trey Bouchet
JD Driftwood just can’t seem to kill Justin York. He tossed him off a scaffold through lights tubes, he fucking blew him up in a exploding barebed wire deathmatch… with the help of Casanova English. Despite all that here comes Justin York back for another battle in CU:LT and it will be a unique battle for the Casino Kid. He is going against the mysterious Señor Mascara who is certainly not Craig Cogan. Not much is known about this enigma at all really other than he has a very unconventional style. Trey Bouchet is also making his debut in this one. I know Bouchet know how to throw bastards around the ring so Mascara and York better be ready to land on their feet. I think I am going to have to give th edge to York in this one – but with triple threats anything can happen.
FIGHT Championship
Alice Gemini vs JC Keeton
Alice Gemini had probably he most impressive debut in CU:LT history winning two matches in one night to be crowd a first time champion. I’m not sure why JC Keeton is being rewarded for his actions at Summer of Slam where he was DQed in a match against Addy A. With English not in control this month anything can be at play. Both of these competitors are heavy hitters but I don’t see Gemini dropping the title so soon after grabbing it – that said we have learned sometimes Keeton is just out to prove a fucking point.
Double Homicide Championships
Ladders, Light Tubes and Landmines
Team Buddy Back Pose vs Three Ring Barney vs Johnny B and Jonny C vs Dawson Brothers
For almost the entirety of CU:LT’s existence one team has been completely dominant in the tag team division – has put more asses in seats and truly represents all that CU:LT is and that is Three Ring Banrey. Somehow they lost their titles to Team Buddy Back Pose and Team Buddy’s run was stopped quickly by Johnny B and Jonny C. Then at Summer of Slam we had the debut of the Dawson Bros who talked a lot about this. This match is a restructuring of the tag team division, four teams battling it out in one of the most dangerous matches CU:LT has come up with. I know anything can happen here – and these wild scenarios probably lend the situation to Team Buddy Back Pose more than anyone. I know Johnny and Jonny won’t want to drop the titles at their first opportunity to defend them. Then these Dawson Brothers are going to try to make a name for themselves. I have a feeling though all things will be right in CU:LT and Thee Ring Barney will find themselves back at the top of the division.
Classic Championship
Fatal Four Way Elimination Submission Match
Noah Ortega vs Vincent Black vs Beaufort vs Sebastian Santiago
This one is a true test of skill for, who many consider Casanova English’s golden boy, the current CU:LT Classic Champion Noah Ortega. There is no easy way out of a submission match especially when it is a fatal four way elimination. Vincent Black gets his second shot at the championship after losing to Brandon Moore in his debut. Black has been dominant since he came to this company – but he hit a snag at Summer of Slam going up against a red hot Max Daemon. Vinny might just be able to get back on his stride here. Beaufort has been promising she has two wins under her belt and two losses to go with it – but if anyone told me six months ago an innocent French girl would be one of the top underdog talents in Combat Unlimited I would have called you crazy, but somehow she is making it work. Sebastian Santiago has along history of wrestling heritage in Mexico. He’s the odds on favorite clearly put in by the promoter to try and snatch some top gold in this company. Sebastian Santiago is not afraid to cheat to win and when that’s combined with his amount of natural talent well – he knows when to pick his spots and that’s key in a match like this. Noah’s last title defense on the other hand was lackluster – English pretty much handed it to him. So it is hard to say if he will be able to find a way to out fox everyone in this match. I think I am going to have to go with the wild card here… I think Beaufort shocks the world at Gringos Gone Wild.
Champion vs Champion
New World Championship
Mexico City Street Fight
Donnie Hopkins vs JD Driftwood
Rumor has it JD Driftwood threatened to walk out of the company if he didn’t get this match. He demanded it last month in a promo and The Board is more than happy to grant this match in English’s absence. It is going to be an absolute old school banger when these two match up. Driftwood has been on the run of his career in CU:LT winning his last five matches in a row. He’s the longest running champion in this company – but JD is tired of just being SNUFF Champion – though he has put the championship on the map having some of the best matches the company has seen. There is only on mane in the entire locker room at the moment who may rival JD’s toughness and that’s New World Champion Donnie Hopkins. He went toe to toe with Jane Doe in a trilogy that cemented both wrestlers as future hall of farmers. He just barely managed to defend the championship against Lissie Hope – but I know Hopkins has a few more bangers in the tank. That said I don’t know if it will be as New World Champion. Everyone saw Donnie coughing at Summer of Slam and I think any weakness any sign of at all and Driftwood is going to find a way to latch on. I think we will end up seeing Driftwood crowned New New World Champion.
