A thorn digging into your flesh will eventually drop seeds in your blood. They will rot and grow to linger in your heart until it becomes black. What will you do now Alice? I am the final monolith in your path to evolution and you will run away.
TWISTED.
Your mother is in hell Serenity.
Those words couldn't be closer to the truth. She didn't want to listen but she knew she was right. It didn't do her any pleasure to be reminded of the torture she endured under Alice for months. It tormented her mind till this very day no matter how hard she tried to ignore it. The hatred within her heart was permanent and vengeance would be brought upon her. Serenity patiently counted the day she would wring all types of hell upon her and she couldn't think of a more beautiful place than to sacrifice the lamb in Japan.
Snap!
A twig was broken from the heavy stomps of Serenity's march following the narrow pathway through this veil forest of haunted spirits. The foggy scent clouded the scenery of the blackened woods, the eerie whistle of ghosts shrouding the ruined bushes, and the constant twining of the vines hanging down below. Did that stop her?
Your mother is in hell Serenity.
No.
She kept pushing onward bypassing the warning signs. Her brown eyes were fueled by the fires of those words breaking through her mind's cages. Every march in those black boots was stern and assertive. She never wavered in her march and her gear was the only comfort of the cold winds trying to bite down on her flesh. Serenity wouldn't stop, she couldn't.
Your mother is in hell Serenity.
"Yes she is and I want to see her."
Up a hill, she climbed with no fear in her eyes. Stood on top, she saw the view that most of the locals would never dare to see in their lives. The decayed bodies hanging from each bark, a victim slaved to the mother's nature cruelty but she descended into the chasm of death where lives willingly surrender themselves to death. Passing through the traffic of these horrendous trees, she finds herself in the courtyard surrounded by plague and horror for Serenity was standing in the center of the Aokigahara.
"Hello, Alice. Welcome to your Wonderland. Fitting for a place such as you. All that petty evil shit you like to talk about and here we are in our third match with no rules. Alice, please look around because I know you can hear me. We're intertwined together whether we like to admit it or not but you caused this to happen when you had to bring my dead mother into this. You had to go there Alice and bring up my dark past so you could take everything from me."
She had to regain her composure. The urge to lash out was creeping past the boundaries in her mind. Being in this desolate forest made her aware of the pain she was feeling, the pain buried deep within her.
"You took so much from me and even when I had nothing, you continued to take. I've tried to figure out how to make you feel the same thing, Alice. I've tried to be the better person, but it cost me the Action Wrestling Womens Championship. I tried to stoop lower than you and it almost made me a murderer. I've lost friends, family, and now even the respect of my fans due to the acts I committed after what you did to me. Do you care? No. Why should you?"
Reaching back into the pocket of her baggy army pants, she pulled out the blood-stained knife that was used in their last match together. She stared down at Alice's dried blood on the blade held in her hand and her eyes were dead. Serenity pictured the moment before her where Alice was on her back and she was on top of her holding the knife with both hands almost plunging it into her face until her father had stopped her.
"Your life was in my hands, Alice. I should have killed you. I should have buried you six feet in the ground but I didn't. You were saved by the very man you insulted so much. My father saved your life and you still dare to disrespect my family name when it's the reason you're even breathing today. How insidious can you be? Is this your way of trying to be the edgy girl in school that you could never be?"
"You want to talk about my family because yours left you to die on the cold streets? How your father abandoned you after you were abused? You of ALL people should understand where I come from when my mother treated me like shit but no, you had to claw and prive your way into those terrors that were hidden deep within. Now, Alice, you're going to reap the consequences but before I tell you why I'm here. Let me tell you what happened after you were saved."
BROKEN.
Independence Day was the ruin of two women and at the HCA Florida Aventura Hospital, Serenity was admitted for the night after being sent to the emergency room accompanied by her father in the ambulance. Room 728 in the North Tower at 11:32 in the night, the charge nurse had done her check-up and discussed the condition with her father. Andre sat down in the room staring towards his firstborn child bandaged and patched up recovering from the gruesome last-man-standing match that almost took her life. A knock on the door was heard and standing in the doorway was his wife and Serenity's step-mom, Kaitlyn."We need to talk.Outside."
He stood up from the chair and joined her in the hallway where other nurses were passing by. Andre leaned against the wall with his arms folded but Kaitlyn stood in front of him. Her eyebrows lowered, a stronger demeanor in her posture, and a fixed gaze on her husband were clear signs she wasn't too happy with the situation.
"This has gone too far. She's in a hospital bed. You told me she would be okay and look at her now. She shouldn't be doing this, she should be going to college like every other teenager but instead, Serenity is hospitalized after almost killing herself. Is this what you want? To see our child constantly like this?"
"What do you want me to do? I can't control what she does. I can't make her do something she doesn't want to do. She's been training for this since she was fifteen years old. She made her choice and she needs to understand that this business is a dog-eat-dog world."
"At the expense of our family? At the expense of that bitch bringing up our family history?"
"MY family history. This has nothing to do with you."
Kaitlyn took a step back from that statement. Andre stood his ground and the other employees were keeping clear of the two.
"You always have to remind me. You can never let me in even when we're married and I've given you twins. Instead, I have to find out like everyone else who watches wrestling. You shouldn't let this happen anymore. You're going to lose her!"
"You have no idea what you're talking about. I've been doing this since I was eighteen just like her. She's going to learn to face people who will do anything to break her. This was just a taste of what's to come when you're in this life and only she decides whether she wants to continue or not!"
"It's killing her and it's not worth her life!"
"THEN WHAT THE FUCK DO YOU WANT ME TO DO?!"
His outburst sparked a disturbing argument catching the attention of those nearby who stepped in. Security was called to the floor and by policy, they had to be escorted out of the building. On the other hand, Serenity's eyes opened slowly to a blurry view until seconds passed to regain clear vision. She sat using the last of her strength to get more comfortable and laid her head to rest on the pillow in the evening gown provided by the hospital. It was the loud noises and arguing that forced her back into consciousness, clearly a usual awakening call.
"Serenity."
A nurse entered into the room and Serenity immediately jumped at the sight of her.
"It's okay Ms. Holmes. My name is Denise. Is there anything I can help you with?"
"Where's my dad?"
"Unfortunately, security had to escort him and your mother out of the building because they were arguing."
Her head snapped to the nurse.
"My m-mother?"
"Yes. Kaitlyn. She is your mother, no?"
DAMNED.
"You had no idea how much I wanted to say yes. I wanted it to be actual reality but we both know that would be a bold lie. What is the point of why I'm here and why I wanted to share that moment? It's simple. You were right. I hated my mother and she's in hell."
"And you're going to join her."
"Because I'm going to take everything from you as you did me. However, the difference between you and me is that I managed to get back up and become stronger. What have you done Alice? You couldn't even hold the women's championship as long as I did and you cut your tail and ran from the competition in Action Wrestling to CULT. Granted, you became the inaugural FIGHT Champion but how fitting that the final challenge would be me. It's almost poetic really."
She paced around the courtyard of this burdened forest. The vines wrapped around the hanging bodies of forgotten souls as she looked at each one with a blank expression.
"You set your entire career to be based on ruining me. You built the foundations of my downfall so what happens when I rise again? Those foundations break. You dragged me to hell and I climbed right out. Don't you see Alice? I went down the rabbit hole that you dragged me and I came out stronger than ever. I never caved in but you? I saw it the moment you escaped the knife. You're a coward. A representation of someone who tries so hard to be this tough cookie but faces true adversity, you're going to suffer."
"And what will you do when I take it the FIGHT Championship from you? I'll tell you. This is the most feared suicide forest in Japan. People come here when they have nothing else to lose except their own life. When everything has failed them and all hope is lost, they become one with nature and trapped here forever."
"That's true evil. A powerful environment beyond our control that shows no mercy. It lets you die and absorbs you into its library. That's where you belong Alice. You don't deserve to live because you have no means of actual purpose. You lie, manipulate, claw your way into people's hearts and suck the life out of them like some vampire. However, they fight back or prove you wrong, you wither away into nothing."
"This is why I'm so thankful you dared to attack me. I was minding my own business but no, the mere scent drove you into a frenzy. You're trying to activate my killswitch but what you did was start another war and this is one you won't win."
"You know they say when you're in danger, the human reaction is to do two things. The fight is one option and it's managed to make you the champion you are now but what happens when we step into the ring together? The Lions Den specifically?"
She stopped before one tree that was the tallest in the region and looked at the multiple bodies hanging from each bark.
"It's simple. You're going to choose the other option."
F L I G H T
Serenity dug the knife into the wood and twisted it deep as she could into the bark. She carved the name of ALICE into it marking her name into the tree's essence. There, she dropped the knife and backed away from the crooked carving with a smile on her face. It was a symbolic progression of the future. Serenity's eyes were locked into the art she made until turning her back to stare upwards at the moon shining directly on her. It was beautiful and she experienced this moment like none would ever do.
"Run little Alice Run. Run rabbit run."
"I'm going to break you, Alice. No, you're going to break yourself. You're going to experience what it means to be alone once again but this time, no one will be coming to save you. The eerie pain that you were wrong this entire time about me will drive you into madness you will never know. You'll be at the edge of the world wondering how did Serenity ruin everything I've worked for in this company and when you ask that question, I'll be there just smiling at you. I won't need to put more salt into the open wound, no."
"I'm nothing like you. I'm better than you and you needed to weaken me to bring life into the career you've built for yourself. That stops now."
"There's no more mind games, no smoke, and mirrors, or any tricks you can pull. We're going to fight until we can't anymore but I will prove to you what the definition of fighting means. I will take everything you throw at me and keep fighting. Even when death had me, I still fought against him. You're not going to fight Alice, you're going to run."
"You'll become CULT Wrestling's inaugural FLIGHT Champion."
"And I'll be moving onto bigger and better things. Welcome to the forest Alice, your new home. You will fade, everything about you will fade and you'll be stuck along with the other poor souls the world will forget about it. I won't though. I'll visit time and time again to see your wither away into the tree I marked for you."
"Run Alice Run."
"You will be nothing more than a memory. I will never become you. I will be better because I choose to FIGHT!"
