THUD! THUD! THUD! The door shook every time it was struck, and every pound rang throughout the room as the resounding thunder… However, the star of this particular scene remained calm. Jennie Fenix. Armorclad, she was wearing everything that she would traditionally wear down to compete in her matches. Her hair flows down over her shoulders as she lies atop her bed, propped up on her elbows with a championship underneath her– the IWF Women’s World Championship which she had acquired at their event merely days before failing in her debut at CU:LT. It was this championship that put a target on her back, and not too long from now, the entire roster would be battling for their chance to take the coveted possession away from the younger Fenix. The sound of dozens, hundreds, perhaps even thousands of fists continue barraging the door, but despite all of the carnage that is going on outside, there is a brightness that surrounds her like an aura; she kicks her legs back and forth nonchalantly. Her own gaze fixates on her own reflection within that of the championship. She cocks her head to the side, and the corners of her lips curl into a grin; she bats her eyes at herself.
“The People… V.…” she mutters.
She rolls her eyes momentarily, and clicks her tongue several times before finally acknowledging the audience (camera) with a mere gaze of her bright eyes; a longing look, and the commotion from outside continues to get louder during this brief moment of silence with a number of faceless ghouls beginning to shriek and call out for her to let them in, but she pays them no mind. She just sits up on her bed, and scoops up her championship with an arm, then scoots to the edge of her bed which is just tall enough that her feet can’t touch the floor.
She tosses her head from side to side, still carelessly and mindlessly to the people on the outside, flashing a quick smile.
“I have to say, I know a thing or two about having a target on my back. I mean, really, I’ve been struck by a ladder to keep me away from what should have been my shot at my first-ever World Championship… I had to– but let’s be honest here– I WANTED to step in the ring with one of the best that the industry recognizes to try and prove myself…only to get humiliated… I had to fight to get out from the shadow that my sister cast over me, and over the entire family. I had to watch someone take away my first chance of going after this here title–” she raises the IWF Women’s World Championship up, “AND THEN! I was almost RAN OVER in another attempt to– excuse my language– THWART me from taking THIS championship. And, as you can see, it didn’t stop me from earning my next shot at this championship, and TAKING it!” Jennie lays the championship across her lap, and leans back against her hands.
She clicks her tongue while maintaining her position for a moment, and cocks her head to the side in a manner suggesting that she is contemplating
“And do you know what happened when I finally beat my sister? Hmm? Do you know what happened when I took this championship? Besides my sister being proud of me, hugging me, celebrating, etcetera, etcetera…” She sighs with utter content, but her demeanor quickly shifts while sitting back up, “It… wasn’t… enough…” She states each word with blazing confidence, and allows the silence to linger for several seconds to let the words sink in.
“It wasn’t enough that I, at the time, was the number one contender for the IWF Women’s World Championship! It wasn’t enough that everyone on that roster was already eyeing me as the cream of the crop…KNOWING…I am the real deal, and that everything I’m doing, and everything I’m accomplishing: I’m just getting started. AND SO! I saw an opportunity…truly, though, the name is what really drew me in: SUPER SAIYAN!” she raises a hand as if to highlight the marquee of the title of the previous event.
“Everyone knows my love for everything in the Dragon Ball universe, and so I KNEW– from the moment that Super Saiyan was announced– that I was going to sign up HERE, and I was going to start making a name for myself! Unfortunately, as hard as I tried… I just wasn’t good enough… I wasn’t good enough to win, but somehow, someway, I was able to earn enough attention that I was given a shot at a championship at this next event? The People v. Casanova English?” her nostrils flare when she lets out a snorting laughter.
“Now, now, I know that some of you are wondering why I had to mention everything that I had to go through in order to acquire this championship… And that was me explaining that I– know– what it’s like to have the people against me! I know what it’s like to have the world against me! I know what it’s like to have everyone trying to hold me back, hold me down, or stop me from getting EVERYTHING. I know what it’s like! AND NONE OF IT HAS STOPPED ME! Yeah, I was a little disappointed that I wasn’t able to win in my debut, but I did impress the right people, didn’t I? I don’t see the boring Android 18 fighting for a title, even if she managed to squeak out the win, but–” Jennie clicks her tongue again, “–can’t win then all, right? You’ll not hear an excuse out of me. That’s not me. That’s not what I do. I get back up, and I start again.” She states boldly.
Silence ensues for a couple seconds to follow, and Jennie raises a finger to tap against her chin several times while pondering the situation, or rather, the opportunity that has been presented to her; a chance at acquiring a second championship, what would be her first championship in CU:LT, and a smile forms. “A title shot… Another thing that has eluded me for quite a while, because I promise everyone, all the time, always, that I am going to become a DOUBLE champion! I am going to become a TRIPLE champion! I am going to have so much gold that I–” she reaches to the shoulder straps on her top, and seductively starts to pull on them…but just as they are about to come down, she pulls them higher onto her shoulders, “You’ll hear, or even see that when the day comes.” She says with a coy smile.
She sucks in her lips for a moment, and bites on her bottom lip before finally bringing herself back to the focus.
“I impressed the right people to get this title match, but it seems that I did not impress them nearly enough when I first signed on to compete… Not like you, JJ. And now, I’m wondering what it is that you had that made them want to give you a title shot in your debut against Goku– Vincent– Black? And more importantly, you were able to WIN! You were able to capture the CLASSIC CHAMPIONSHIP!” She begins to clap excitedly for the valiant, and successful effort that JJ Slayer had at Super Saiyan.
“A little birdie… tweeted… to me that you say you are looking forward to this match, and you are looking forward to this challenge! And let me say, first and foremost, I do appreciate that you are actually looking at me for what I am: a challenge! About ninety-nine percent of the people that I’ve been in the ring with have tried to undermine me– have tried to underestimate me– have tried to say that I’m NEVER going to be as good as big sister…” she gives her pouting face, and traces a finger down from the corner of her eye to imitate a tear coming down, inadvertently ruining some of her make up. She looks at her finger, and mutters, “Damn it!” and then grumbles under her breath for a few moments.
Deep breath! Deep breath. She closes her eyes and takes a strong stance, while talking herself down.
“It’s fine! You’re fine! It was bound to get messed up anyway!”
Deep breath.
She re-opens her eyes, “These are common things that people have tried to use against me, and even last month was something that they tried to attack right off the bat…” She is able to bring her focus back rather quickly. She shrugs her shoulders, and continues, “But you’re not going to be like that. You acknowledged me as a CHALLENGE! Now, the only thing that I wish I could do is return that favor… The only thing that I wish I could do is view you as a challenge, but I don’t view you as a challenge, JJ! I don’t! I view you as nothing more than an obstacle! An obstacle that is holding me back from taking more gold for myself! An obstacle that is keeping me from having my name sung from the corners of the globe– which is a rather weird phrase, isn’t it? Globes don’t have corners… I want my name to resonate around the globe. And you are just another obstacle that is keeping me from having that happen.”
She mouths the word “sorry”, but by her own mannerisms, is she really seriously sorry? Doubtful.
“What do you want from me? What do you really expect of me? You and me, JJ– you and I– we are a lot alike! Close in age… Both are what this world would try to label as– late bloomers– but even in the short time that I’ve been doing this, I can tell you that everyone always tries to come out here and suck up to everyone else and claim that this is going to be the single greatest match, and single greatest challenge that they’ve ever had in their career, and I know one-hundred percent that people aren’t exactly looking at me just yet and thinking that this is their DREAM match… maybe their dream, but I know they aren’t thinking about things taking place inside the ring,” She clicks her tongue, and shakes her head; the expression on her face suggests she knows fully what people are thinking about, but it’s not enough to make her blush, “Do you want me to think that this is going to be the single greatest fight of my life? Do you think that this championship is going to mean everything, and more to me?”
She gazes forward and awaits an answer for only half a second before continuing, “The truth about this championship is that it’s going to be just another notch on my belt! But because it probably means something more to you, do you think that means that I’m not going to come after it? Do you think it means that I’m not going to take it? Do you think that I’m going to choke? Do you think that I’m going to back down?” She asks.
The questions linger for a moment as she fastens the championship around her waist, and then turns back toward the bed to start pulling at the multiple blankets until an object comes falling out and clangs onto the floor. She bends down to pick it up; a metal bat. She stares longingly at it for what seems like an eternity before returning to the blankets and beginning to toss them about in search of another object: a Purge mask. She puts the mask atop her head, but doesn’t lower it just yet.
“Now, honey, I don’t want you to worry about ANYONE else this Saturday… I don’t want you to think that Goku Black is going to extract a little bit of revenge on you for taking that title away from him. I don’t want you to think about the other people that are probably paying attention to this one just because they are going to want to have the same opportunity that I’ve been given. I don’t even want you to think of the big bad Tara looking to protect her baby sister, ‘cause she knows she doesn’t need to! It’s not the people versus JJ Slayer! It’s not the world versus JJ Slayer! It’s JENNIE! THE DJINN! THE JINX! Versus JJ Slayer,” she flashes another coy smile at the audience directed for JJ Slayer, “And, honey, let me tell you something about me… You can bring Jacob, JJ, JJ Slayer, the Kingslayer, Jimmy John’s, THE PEOPLE, and even THE WORLD to try to drag me down, but I’m not going down without a fight. And I’m taking some more gold with me.” Jennie smiles, and nods to her audience.
The shouts from outside amplified throughout the room, and the pounding on the door became more and more excessive as Jennie walked toward the door. She lowers the mask over her face, and pulls the door open, and a mass of people are already outside to seemingly partake in a purge event, but Jennie is swinging at everyone that is unlucky enough to be in her way! The door closes behind her, leaving the camera inside, as the scene fades to black.
